Photo Friday: 2 great Christian t-shirts

Here are 2 shirts I saw the other day while I was at a local Christian bookstore:

"faithbook: Jesus wants to put you in His Book. Do you accept?"

"Hii Saved Me"

I'm gonna let the pictures speak for themselves. Feel free to add your own thoughts, though.

  1. Personally, I wish that Christians would at least attempt to show a little creativity instead of just ripping off and poorly parodying anything that pop culture says is new, fun, and shiny.

I mean, we have the origin of all creativity living in us, and we can't even come up with an original t-shirt design?

    The definition of EPIC FAIL.

  2. I have to agree. Esp. with the reasoning you gave. Unfortunately, the biggest concern is not creativity as much as profit. More Christians seem to be willing to buy parodied shirts than original ones.

When I was looking at these shirts, a 10 year old saw the "Hii saved me" shirt and told his parents he wanted it. He thought it was cool and he was going to go home and try to make a Jesus Mii on his Wii.

I don't think we'll see a end to this type of shirt any time soon.

  3. There will always be someone to look at the negative wether it is a christian tshirt or something else. Come on people...do we not see that this is what the world see's christians afterall, stop being so negative, stop being so critical. Question is, "what are YOU doing for God and His kingdom????

  4. @anon I find it interesting that you make a lot of assumptions about those who commented on this post and then proceed to judge our Christianity. I think you are reading into the thoughts what you want to read - as I read them again I see a desire for more from the "Christian retail market" not a condemnation on any person.

It's time for Christians to be innovative, creative, unique. God did not call us to copy what is popular in mainstream culture in order to make a quick buck. You do not even need a "Christian" t-shirt to let people know you are Christian. Can they be conversation starters, yes. But I've also known people who are just turned off by someone wearing a "cheesy Christian shirt." Notice that some religious-themed shirts can be very effective in starting conversations, but these are the ones that don't "look like" something found in mainstream culture.

If you want to continue a conversation, please feel free to email me or at least leave your name when you post. I'd love to tell you what God has done in my life and in the lives of people around me.
